On March 2-3, the biggest names in Asian America will be at Harvard for the 7th Annual APA Conference on Law and Public Policy. This year's theme is Thirteen
Ways of Looking at a Blackbird. Kevin Lee, Conference Co-chair, says, "The title originally comes from a Wallace Stevens poem, and is meant to underscore the
diversity of the Asian American community. Only by remembering the diversity of our roots and of our current landscape will we as a community enact laws and public
policies that will better benefit Asian Pacific Americans."
Featured panelists include AsianConnections.com contributing writers, author and broadcaster Ben
Fong-Torres and model, actress and entrepreneur Esther Hwang. Keynote speakers are Morgan Chu, Managing Partner at Irell & Manella; Preeta Bansal, Solicitor General for the State of New York; and David Henry Hwang, Tony-award winning playwright,
screenwriter, and author. Other speakers include Joie Chen of CNN, Daphne Kwok of Organizations of Chinese Americans, S.B. Woo of the 80-20 Initiative.
This conference, which is the largest conference of its kind, attracts hundreds of students and young professionals who wish to meet, learn, and engage in key issues
facing Asian Americans. Last year, for example, Alberta Lee (daughter of Dr. Wen Ho Lee) gave one of her first public speeches about her father, beginning her
year-long quest for his freedom. This year, there will be a leadership forum which will encourage participants to become the next generation of Asian American leaders.
